Smokin’ Vampires
I’ve seen a few posts around saying that Spike smoking is a plot hole and ridiculous.
Is it really?
I mean, just because vampires don’t breathe, that doesn’t mean they can’t. Sure, they don’t live off oxygen but they can still inhale/exhale. It’s just a simple act of taking in air and letting it out, there’s no reason why they can’t if they wanted to. It’s a physical thing which they have complete control of - like talking.
So the conclusion is - vampires do not need to breathe but they have conscious control of otherwise autonomic muscles therefore, they have breath.
This is what I’ve learnt from researching, so if anyone disagrees or wants to add something to this then feel free to do so.
I think most people have a problem with it because, at some point in the show, someone needed mouth to mouth resuscitation and Spike was all “I don’t have breath, so I can’t do it.” but he was seen smoking, therefore he has breath…
