#djfgkdfgjk this scene i can’t #it’s a testament to how much Giles has changed and grown #i cannot imagine Giles s1 doing this - taking this man’s life to protect his slayer #but that was Giles pre-cruciamentum and pre-Buffy’s first death #Giles pre-Jenny’s Death and pre-s4’s feels of restlessness and uselessness#That Giles and this Giles are two completely different people #and this Giles is the one who says the things that no one else wants to even consider in order to save the world #s1 Giles would never have mentioned letting Dawn die - but /THIS/ Giles…#with his tiredness and his dark streak and his understanding that sometimes saving the world means getting your hands dirty #THIS Giles offers Dawn up on a plate and THIS Giles kills Ben #because after all the years of being The Watcher… After everything he’s gone through… #His hands are so red already that this little bit of blood makes no difference one way or another #This episode is the turning point for Giles; everything that happens causes Giles’ line between right and wrong to start blurring #and when his Slayer dies… that line starts vanishing completely #GILES FEELS
